The Gordon House is located in Miami, Oklahoma and is a popular Grand Lake attraction for visitors. Currently, the house is owned by the Miami Tribe and is being restored back to its grandeur.
The house was built in 1917 by a tribal member known as Emma Gordon McBee along with her husband Hiram. At the time, the cost of building the home was $3,500. The Gordon's and there seven children lived in the home. During the original construction, many items were brought in from Austria including crystal chandeliers.
After Mr. Gordon passed away, the home was sold to the government. The home was then made into apartments for members of the armed forces during and after World War II.
The Gordon House is still located at 317 A Street Northwest in Miami. The home is used to book private events as well as corporate meetings. It is a beautiful sight to see. For more information about touring the home or scheduling an event, please call 918-961-0920.
