Mickey Mantle was once nicknamed the “Commerce Comet.” He entered the major league for eighteen baseball seasons. The Mickey Mantle Monument is located near the Commerce, Oklahoma high school. The tourist attraction brings many to the area in tribute to one of the greatest baseball hitters of all time. In the 1970s, Mantle was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
